ZICA's 3D Animation programme is a comprehensive career course covering the full 3D production pipeline — from art fundamentals and digital painting to advanced character animation, dynamics, and visual effects. Students learn modelling, texturing, rigging, and keyframe animation in Autodesk Maya, alongside character sculpting in ZBrush and rendering workflows.

Every student creates a short, animated film during the course, graduating with a strong demo reel and portfolio ready for studio roles in film, gaming, advertising, and OTT content production.

ZICA's 3D animation course trains students on the most in-demand professional tools: Autodesk Maya for 3D modelling, rigging, and character animation; ZBrush for digital sculpting; Adobe Photoshop for texturing and concept work; Adobe After Effects for motion graphics and compositing; and rendering engines like Arnold.

Students also receive exposure to Blender as a versatile, industry-growing open-source alternative. AI-powered animation tools are integrated into the curriculum to reflect the industry's evolving workflows.

No prior drawing or art experience is required for ZICA's 3D animation programme. The course begins with foundational art and design modules specifically designed for beginners — covering drawing principles, composition, and digital painting — before progressing to 3D software.

3D animation also rewards logical thinking, spatial reasoning, and attention to detail as much as traditional artistic ability, making it accessible to students from all academic backgrounds, including Science and Commerce streams.

ZICA offers 3D animation programmes in multiple formats. The comprehensive career-oriented programme runs 24–36months, covering the full pipeline from foundations to advanced VFX. For students who are already in graduation or have completed a degree, focused 1-year programmes are available.

Short-term 3D animation modules of 3–6 months are also offered for specific skills or software. Students should contact their nearest ZICA centre for the programme structure best suited to their background and career goals.

ZICA's 3D animation graduates are eligible for a wide range of roles across the creative industry. Common entry-level positions include Junior 3D Animator, Character Modeller, Texture Artist, Lighting Technician, and Rigging Artist. With experience, career paths progress to Lead Animator, Character TD, Animation Director, or VFX Supervisor. Industries hiring 3D animators include Bollywood and international film studios, OTT platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime, gaming companies, advertising agencies, ed-tech firms, and architectural visualisation studios.
